Making an Impact: The Power of Canes and Paddles

May 11 2023 @ 6:45 pm - 9:00 pm

Canes and paddles are often loved or feared(or better yet, both!) by many. This workshop will cover some of the factors that make them different from other impact toys, how to use them effectively to elicit your desired response, and tips and tricks for bottoming for these implements. We will cover consent and negotiation, anatomical considerations, risks and mitigations, material selection, toy maintenance, and techniques to make an impact with your play partner! There will be time at the end of the workshop to practice and workshop the skills presented in the class so feel free to bring your paddles and canes! A small selection of toys will be available to borrow for the practice portion of the workshop.

Presenter Bios:

@PDXCinder (He/Him) is a queer, sadistic, switchy top with a penchant for hitting butts with things and tying up people of all sizes, gender, and abilities. He is fascinated with the dichotomy of pain for pleasure, and loves watching screams turn to snorts and giggles.
Cinder feels most himself when telling dad jokes, and in service to our community in the form of DMing, hosting events, and education at every opportunity. He also loves nerding out about all aspects of rope bondage, impact play, mind fucks, cigars/play/service, and BDSM in general. He is a proud graduate of Bondage Soup and honored to give back to the community as a co-host of Spanktuary with his Partner, MxJosiePosie, and as one of the leaders of the Dungeon Monitor Resource Group.

@MxJosiePosie (They/She) is a queer, Pan, Poly, Ace, sadistic brat and giggle-snorting switch, with a passion for education and creative expression. They enjoy helping people cultivate new experiences while holding space for vulnerability and personal growth through kinky play. Josie loves collaborating with people to create unique experiences through the use of rope, impact, CBT, fear play, and mindfucks, while fostering genuine human connection and personal transformation through these experiences. They are passionate about working with newbies, queer, LGBTQIA2S+ folx, people with trauma that has restricted their personal kink exploration, and those wanting to push their edges and thresholds to discover their deepest desires and personal strengths through kink. When not working with clients, Josie co-hosts the Spanktuary play party (with their partner Cinder) at Sanctuary Club, a proud Sub Rosa Club member and is a leader of the Dungeon Monitors Resource Group.
They live in Portland, OR with Cinder and their sweet pups Jabba and Charlie. They enjoy horror movies, art, and clowns, and seek opportunities to incorporate these passions into their scenes whenever possible. They are a proud member of the Chahta nation.
